Neighborhood Update: August 2013
As you are aware, excavation is continuing on the Ability Institute of RIC, located at 355 East Erie Street. Specifically, potholing and obstruction removal activities will come to a close this week. On Friday, August 23rd, deep foundation work is set to begin and will last for approximately the next six weeks.
Please be aware that during this period you will notice an increase in noise and truck traffic. We are working to minimize the impact including doing whatever is feasible during daytime hours, however, and in accord with City Code, some work will be required in the evenings. In addition, weekend work will continue during much of this stage, although if Sunday construction hours are needed, an email alert will be sent out no later than Friday whenever possible (you may subscribe here).
We have also been notified by the City of an upcoming short-term project adjacent to our site. This week, the Chicago Department of Water Management will be completing necessary maintenance work on a water main located on Erie Street between Fairbanks and McClurg. The project will require rolling street closures and work will occur during normal construction hours. Any questions with regard to this project should be directed to Alderman Reilly’s office.
We will continue to send regular emails (you may subscribe here) with pertinent construction information as the project progresses. Please feel free to forward this message to others and encourage them to be added to our email database by contacting me at the email or phone below. We appreciate your patience and partnership during this particular period of work which tends to be noisier.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312-238-7522.
