Fitness Classes for EveryBody and Every Ability

Group classes are a great way to stay accountable to your goals as well as keeping fitness fun. They are also a great compliment and opportunity to diversify your self-guided workouts.

The RIC Fitness Center offers a variety of group classes that are adapted for individuals of all ability levels. These classes are led by our experienced staff as well as certified instructors.

The Basics  

  • All classes are held at the RIC Fitness Center
  • All participants are encouraged to consult with their physician before beginning this or any new exercise program.
  • All participants must be current RIC Fitness Center members
  • Registration is recommended, single class drop-in available

The Classes

Seated Yoga

Restore Fitness Cancer Program

When:

Mondays, 12:00 - 12:45 pm
Cost:

$75/11-week session OR

$10 to drop into a single class

Fitness Level: This class is good for people of all fitness ability levels

In this 45-minute class, participants explore yoga postures and breathing exercises that will increase flexibility and postural alignment.

This class is designed for participants with a variety of needs and can be adapted for participant’s individual health conditions, mobility, and current fitness level. The entire class may be comfortably practiced in a chair. This class is led at a rate that allows those who may need extra time or assistance in transitioning in and out of the poses.

Chair Zumba

When:

Fridays, 12:00 - 12:45 pm
Cost:

$75/11-week session OR

$10 to drop into a single class

Fitness Level: This class is good for all fitness ability levels

This 45-miunute seated class combines muscle toning moves to give you an overall energy boost! Chair Zumba incorporates movements taken from Latin dances like the merengue, salsa, and cha cha to create an exhilarating program that aims to improve overall energy, core stability, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, and motor skills.

Chair Zumba is taught by a certified Zumba instructor.

Seated Active Stretch

When:

Wednesdays, 12:00 - 12:30 pm
Cost:

$110/11-week session OR

$10 to drop into a single class

Fitness Level: This class is good for all fitness ability levels

Active Seated Stretch class focuses on gently increasing one’s flexibility by using breathing and muscle lengthening through a series of continuous instructions to a routine of seated stretches. 

The routine is maintained unchanged from class to class to give the participants a chance to learn to incorporate these exercises into their home exercise program.

The class is accompanied by a soft relaxing music. This class will help overall relaxation and inner calming.

Seated Sculpt Bootcamp

When:

Mondays, 1:00 - 1:45 pm
Cost:

Free

Fitness Level: This class is good for all fitness ability levels

Seated Sculpt Bootcamp adapts movements from ballet, Pilates, and yoga. Join this seated exercise class to sculpt your core using your own body weight.

MaZi Cardio

When:

Fridays, 2:00 - 2:45 PM
Cost:

Free

Fitness Level: This class is good for all fitness ability levels. Please note that most dances are taught standing but can be performed seated.

A dance class with easy to follow choreography and high intensity cardiovascular exercise. Dances mimic interval training to maximize calorie burn and keep you moving.
