We are currently developing assistive devices to facilitate finger extension. We hope that therapeutic training with these devices in a Virtual Reality environment or in activities of daily living will accelerate hand rehabilitation.

We are interested in developing a dynamic, 3D model of the index finger to facilitate the study of motor control and to predict the effects of potential therapeutic interventions. The equations of motion have been computed symbolically.

We are evaluating finger kinematics using a CyberGlove (Virtual Technologies, Inc.). The glove permits measurement of 20 degrees-of-freedom in the digits. We are interested in the pattern of finger motion during grasp, as well as the portion of the attainable workspace.
