Study Objective

To evaluate a novel sitting design in wheelchair-bound SCI patients by quantifying the biomechanical and physiological effects of this new sitting design as surrogate measures of preventing Pressure Ulcers. The project focuses on comparing pressure ulcer healing rate using wheelchair equipped with the proposed mechanism versus traditional wheelchair with a plus push-up routine.

  • Individuals with SCI (age 18-70 years
  • C7 or lower injury
  • less than one year post-injury
  • with intact skin or pressure sore.
