Web-Based Treatment of Aphasia

Objective

This project develops a computer program for the remote delivery via the internet of a speech-language therapy for aphasia. The program allows individuals with aphasia to practice reading aloud sentences together with an animated “therapist” on the computer in the comfort of  their home. The therapist can monitor participant performance from the office. The study examines whether the computerized speech therapy program provided via the internet will result in more improvement, particularly in speaking and reading, than a non-language-based computer treatment.
