Targeting T-WREX to improve functional outcomes of upper extremity therapy

Objective

We intend to survey patients and therapists about their impressions of the Armeo therapy device used as a part of usual and customary treatment. We also intend to test novel motion-tracking software with the Armeo computer games and create functional training videos to enhance functional carryover of movement practice. Our specific interest is to determine how well both groups receive these new therapeutic modalities, whether the virtual reality component of the Armeo affects patient motivation to participate in intense movement practice and to gain insight into recommended improvements for the device. In addition, we are interested in augmenting the current Armeo® exercises with functional training videos and determining whether training with tabletop arm support instead of the Armeo® arm support is feasible to use with the Armeo® computerized exercises.
