Engineering for Neurologic Rehabilitation

Sensory Motor Performance Program (SMPP) at RIC is the recipient of an Engineering for Neurologic Rehabilitation (ENR) infrastructure award from the National Institute of Health through the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR,) the National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) (RFA HD-09-013).  This award focuses on the application of engineering and robotic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic disorders in animal and human models. The ENR program seeks to build on expertise in neuroscience and engineering which is concentrated in the research laboratories of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) and its affiliate, Northwestern University (NU).

SMPP is pleased to announce its support of young investigators by funding their pilot studies and collaborative studies in the field of neuro-engineering.  Sponsorship will be awarded to those studies involving the understanding of neurologic disabilities and the promotion of recovery.
