Why is this study needed?
The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Roadmap initiative that is designed to stimulate and standardize clinical research across NIH programs and grants dealing with patient-reported outcomes.
How will this study help patients and rehabilitation stakeholders?
Valid, generalizable item banks and computer adaptive testing (CAT) tools can stimulate and standardize clinical research across NIH programs and grants dealing with patient-reported outcomes (PROs).
What are the project objectives?
Our Statistical Coordinating Center (SCC) will develop a computerized system to administer, collect and report PRO data.
How will the project objectives be achieved?
- Make available a range of assessment technologies that are useful in clinical settings.
- Develop and standardize automated systems to ensure high quality, efficient collection and reporting of data.
- Provide an accessible, proven, user-friendly CAT platform.
- Coordinate, adjudicate and activate input from the Steering Committee and collaborating investigators.
