The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) has gained widespread recognition for its research in outcome studies related to measuring the impact of medical rehabilitation over the long term in patients with disabilities. The importance placed on outcome studies in medical rehabilitation has grown dramatically in recent years as clinicians and researchers have been required to find cost-effective means of providing patient care. At RIC, the Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research (CROR) is responsible for conducting outcomes research.

Linda Ehrlich-Jones, PhD, RN, clinical research scientist in RIC’s Center for Rehabilitation Outcomes Research, was selected to be part of the strategic planning committee for the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), announced in the Rheumatology Newsletter this month. As a member of the committee, Linda will take part in evaluating the organization’s strengths and weaknesses to advance the specialty of rheumatology. Congratulations, Linda!

Allen Heinemann Invited to Serve on Institute of Medicine Committee
Dr. Heinemann has been invited to serve on the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Standing Committee to Assist Social Security on Disability Issues. The standing committee will guide the selection and refinement of a series of focused topics to be examined through studies or workshops conducted by separately appointed IOM ad hoc committees.
