Patients with a wide range of disabling conditions find healing and hope in our general rehabilitation program, where you will be able to apply your knowledge and experience with an ever-changing mix of patients and therapies. Rather than focusing on a highly specific set of conditions, you will be able to help people recover from illness and injuries such as organ transplant, cancer, burns, and hip fractures and chronic conditions such as Guillain-Barre syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
People who have recently undergone total knee or total hip replacement or other orthopedic procedures will come to you at RIC for care, advanced therapy and education to help them get back on their feet.
The Pediatric unit is a unique environment that treats the needs of both children and adolescents with a broad range of conditions, requiring an extensive set of skills and experience from therapists and nurses. You’ll work with an expert team of pediatric specialists, including physicians who are double board certified or fellowship trained both in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pediatric medicine, as well as a child psychologist and child life specialists.

RIC is the only Stroke Rehabilitation Research and Training Center federally designated by the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research, offering healthcare professionals opportunities to participate in innovative research programs in addition to the comprehensive treatments and therapies to improve cognitive, speech and physical functions. One of our most innovative programs is the “Prime of Life” Stroke program that has developed specialized therapies for younger people who experience stroke and want to return to a more active life.
Day Rehabilitation Program
Through its DayRehabCenters, RIC has created a model of care that provides patients with the best of both worlds: comprehensive, intensive therapy in a supportive outpatient setting and the comforts of returning each day to home and family. Here, nurses and therapists play important roles in ensuring the continuous improvement of our patients’ health, prevention of complications and education and training for both patients and families.
Outpatient Program
RIC Outpatient Centers provide physical medicine and rehabilitation for a wide range of conditions—from sports injuries and back problems to chronic pain and arthritis. Outpatient rehabilitation is also appropriate for people continuing to recover from traumatic injuries, stroke or managing congenital conditions. Nurses, therapists and physicians, as well as other specialty care professionals, work individually and together to help patients achieve their goals.
