Travel and Accommodation Information
Located near the shores of Lake Michigan, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) is situated in the heart of Chicago's most exclusive shopping, dining and entertainment district.
The Institute is only minutes away from Michigan Avenue (also known as the "Magnificent Mile") which features exclusive shops, Navy Pier, the Hancock Building and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Tourists from around the world visit Chicago to explore these exciting venues and enjoy the the beautiful sights, rich history and cultural diversity of the city.
Once your appointment at RIC has been confirmed, our Guest Services Coordinator will be pleased to assist you with travel and lodging arrangements related to your visit.
Two international airports — O'Hare Airport and Midway Airport — serve the Chicagoland area. Both airports are within 17 miles of RIC's Flagship Hospital. Because of airport security requirements, international travelers who want to visit Chicago must make their own air travel arrangements. Once air travel has been arranged, the Guest Services Coordinator will assist in arranging ground transportation to and from the airport. When necessary, we will also help with special transportation needs – such as providing an accessible car, van, limousine or a medically equipped vehicle to ensure medical stability. For visitors planning a short stay, RIC has negotiated discounted rates (with limited availability) at a number of local hotels. For visitors who need lodging for a longer period of time (30 days or more), we suggest renting an apartment at a nearby corporate housing complex (discounted rates may be available).
