The Ability Insitute of RIC Construction Update
As you may have noticed, The Ability Institute of RIC is growing and changing on an almost daily basis as construction continues to move forward this summer.
Construction crews, who have been reporting to work rain or shine, are currently working on the seventh floor decks of the parking garage. The core of the building has almost reached the tenth level.
Despite a rough winter and a wet spring and summer, we are still on schedule for our projected opening in early 2017.
In the coming weeks, the cranes will increase in height along with the structure. We also will begin to transition from building the concrete garage levels to constructing the steel hospital tower.
As the building gets taller, don’t forget to keep an eye on the lower floors where you can catch some of the interior build outs getting underway.

ADP Update and Frequently Asked Questions
The Human Resources and Payroll Departments have received some inquiries from employees about our new ADP Payroll and Human Resources Information System. We’ve updated our list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to help you navigate the new system. You can access the FAQs through the ADP Self-Service Portal and through RIC Connect.
The updated FAQs include instructions about how to select a paperless option for your pay statements, as well as information about direct deposit, time off accruals and an explanation about the calculation of pay for shift differentials.
Also, many of you have asked what to do in case you forget your password to the ADP Portal. You can go to the ADP login screen and click on the last link, “Forgot your Password.” If you continue to have trouble logging in, contact the RIC Help Desk at 312-238-1234 or email@example.com and request a password reset.

Next Lean Lunch-n-Learn Addresses "Standard Work"
Find out about “Standard Work” and how it can help you and our patients at the next Lean Lunch-n-Learn tomorrow from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The program will be held at the flagship hospital, room 1611. All RIC staff members are invited.
Standard Work is a predefined sequence of documented process steps that are developed and followed to provide a predictable outcome. Standard Work identifies and reduces waste, eases problem solving and enhances productivity within a particular job. Hear more about it at tomorrow’s Lunch-n-Learn.
Magnuson Awards Nomination Process Underway
We are now accepting nominations for the Magnuson Awards. Please participate by nominating your deserving co-workers for either the RIC Founder’s Award or the RIC Management Award. The purpose of the awards is to recognize both the employee and supervisor/manager/director who strongly contribute to ensuring the highest quality of patient care, and who consistently demonstrate the RIC Values of hope, compassion, discovery, collaboration and commitment to excellence.

Nomination forms for the Strategic Alliance Employee Excellence Award should be submitted to the Alliance Executive Director.
Hurry to Reserve Your Spot for SkyRise Chicago Before it Sells Out
There’s still time to register for our sixth SkyRise Chicago at Willis Tower, which will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014. But don’t wait, because the preferred climb times were sold out by the end of August last year.
Employees who have registered and raised at least $200 by 5 p.m. Friday will be eligible for a special prize drawing.
SkyRise Chicago is a significant fundraising event for RIC and has proven remarkably successful year after year, thanks in large part to funds raised by you, our dedicated staff.
Knowing how important you are to this event, we want to make sure you have the opportunity to reserve your spot. And once again, we’ve waived the $60 registration fee for all RIC employees to make it even easier to start raising funds.
