Visiting Policy

We encourage visitors and want to make families and friends feel at home here. Visiting hours are between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. For security reasons, all visitors are required to sign in at the lobby desk and obtain a visitor identification badge.

Visiting Young Patients

Visitors mean a lot to all patients, especially young ones. Please let us know what we can do to help your family spend as much time as possible with a child in our care. Sibling visits can be very important both for the child in our care and the child who visits, and we will allow them whenever possible (see the guidelines below). We can set up beds so parents can rest when their child rests.

Children Who Visit

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them. Children under 6 may only visit if the patient's physician has explicitly given permission in writing. When visitors sign in, staff will call the patient care unit and confirm the physician's order. If no order is in place, the child may visit the patient in public areas such as the cafeteria or 1st floor lobby. Please check with your physician to make sure the authorization has been given before you come. We request that sick children stay at home, as we do not want to put other patients at risk for infection.

Smoking

RIC is a smoke-free facility, but we do have a designated smoking area outdoors at the northwest corner of the hospital building. There you'll find smoking receptacles and benches.
