Workers Compensation Injury Rehabilitation Services
It takes more than individual expertise to make an injured worker as independent and functional as possible. It takes teamwork and a true continuum of care.
The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago offers seamless integration across all levels and types of care. We'll work with your clients at every stage of rehabilitation, coordinating goals and treatments as workers comp patients make progress and always providing the most appropriate services.
Inpatient Rehabilitation
Treating more than 5,000 inpatients a year gives RIC an extraordinary breadth and depth of experience in working with workers compensation injury cases. This is experience that we bring to every patient we see. We work with you, your clients, and their families to set goals; bring leading-edge research and best practices to patient care and offer a wide range of specialized workers comp rehabilitation services.
Day Rehabilitation
RIC's six DayRehabCenters offer workers compensation patients intensive, multidisciplinary therapy - full day or half day - while they continue living in the community. Rehabilitation goals focus on leading patients back to everyday life and integrating with their community. Our Return-to-Work Program is an important facet of day rehabilitation for workers comp injury patients.
RIC's Return-to-Work Program
Our Return-to-Work Program is an intense and comprehensive program designed to get your client back to work, in their previous occupation or a new one. We'll visit and assess your client's worksite, design creative solutions for meeting work goals, and work closely with the case manager, the employer, and the family. In fact, 81% of our DayRehab workers comp patients with a return-to-work goal are able to return to work.
Outpatient Rehabilitation
At more than two dozen centers throughout Illinois and Indiana, RIC provides rehabilitation services tailored to help each workers compensation patient reach their highest level of ability. Many people with work related injuries find that our outpatient services offer precisely the help they need, avoiding more costly interventions.
Assistive Technology
Technology can be an essential adjunct to rehabilitation in helping your clients regain abilities and independence. Our Assistive Technology Program provides adaptive equipment, communication devices, and other tools that can significantly enhance mobility, dexterity, and the ability to communicate. Our on-site rehabilitation engineers customize equipment for each individual, and our therapists help workers comp patients learn to use them.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Vocational rehabilitation services for workers comp patients can be used individually or as part of a program of care. Services include:
- Initial vocational assessments
- Comprehensive vocational evaluations
- Work trial assessments
- Internship opportunities
