Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Services
RIC offers three levels of care to meet your specific needs. For many, the first step on the road to recovery is inpatient rehabilitation for intensive therapy at RIC’s flagship hospital. Day rehabilitation is for those who no longer need inpatient hospitalization but can benefit from multiple intensive therapies and continued monitoring by a physiatrist. Outpatient rehabilitation is appropriate for those who need only one or two therapies.
RIC also offers its unique Second Look Program as a recheck for people who have sustained a spinal cord injury in the past. In this program, you will receive a comprehensive medical and rehabilitation review to ensure you are taking advantage of the latest developments in spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
Support for the Whole Family
Spinal cord injury affects the whole family, and our team provides support to everyone involved. Families are encouraged to participate in therapy and support groups along with you. In addition, we offer a caregiver’s support group, hands-on education for care at home and access to the LIFE Center, RIC’s interactive library. We also will help connect you to resources in your own community for ongoing care, support and services.
Patients also benefit from RIC’s many specialized services, which complement the core team in helping patients realize their full potential. These include:
- Diaphragmatic pacing
- Galvin Health and Fitness Center
- Sexual dysfunction clinic
- Technology Center
- Therapeutic recreation
- Vocational rehabilitation
- Wheelchair and Seating Center
- Wirtz Sports Program
