Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) starts with a personalized comprehensive assessment prior to treatment. Treatment is then designed to educate patients, increase breathing capacity, improve ability to perform daily activities, integrate medication management and decrease anxiety, panic and stress.

Available services include inpatientoutpatient and day rehabilitation services for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, chronic asthma, sarcoidosis, pre-and post-lung transplant, chronic lung disease and lung cancer.

Programs adhere to the guidelines developed by the American Thoracic Society of the American Lung Society. Services provided at the RIC's Main Campus, located at 345 E. Superior Street in Chicago, maintain a strong relationship with pulmonary specialists at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Other supportive resources include RIC's Breath of Life Support Group and the RIC Fitness Center & Sports Programs.

Comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation services are offered at several RIC locations. For more information, call our Toll Free Referral and Information Line: 1-800-354-REHAB (7342), or visit the locations page of our Web site.
