The RIC Sky is the only women's wheelchair basketball team in the Chicago area. Part of the WNBA Chicago Sky (opens in new window) family, the Sky aim to spread the game of basketball to girls and women throughout the Chicago area. Both organizations strive to educate and encourage girls and young women to participate in competitive and recreational sports, including young women with a physical disability. The Sky play local games against men's teams and travel outside of the Chicagoland area to women's tournaments. The Sky are members of the women's division of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (opens in new window).
The RIC Sky practice year round at the NEDSRA Gymnasium in Addison, Illinois on Thursday evenings. The program is free, however participants must have a current medical form registered with the program.
