Chronic Pain Care: Half-Day Program

Pain is a part of life. You deal with it as it comes and goes. It’s a reminder to use caution and care to protect your body. It’s an ally in focusing awareness on a part of your body and should help you heal; it shouldn’t interfere with your mood or ability to function.

If you find yourself functioning daily at a lower level than you’re used to because of pain, your body may be misdirecting your pain sensors and compromising their function. The Chronic Pain Management Half-Day Program is an interdisciplinary program designed to help you get your body back on track so you can return to your life—regaining your ability to fully participate at home, work and leisure.

Putting You at the Center of Your Treatment

You will be at the center of your pain management. The Chronic Pain Management Half-Day Program coordinates the disciplines of chronic pain management into a single treatment so you have all of the best resources to better manage your pain. You will attend one half-day per week for up to five weeks. Your treatment team may consist of the following members:

  • Don't let your pain dampen your outlook on life;
regain your function and your smile.

Physician with a specialty in physical medicine and rehabilitation
  • Pain Psychologist
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physical Therapists
  • Vocational Rehabilitation specialists
  • Relaxation Therapists
  • Nursing Education experts
  • Clinical Care Manager

Understanding Your Pain is Understanding Your Body

The source of your pain likely confuses or eludes you. You know where you feel it but you don’t understand why you constantly feel it and why it won’t go away. The source of your pain is often hard to determine and, as such, you feel you can’t control the pain and its effects. However, you are still in control of your body and the way it functions. Clinicians will teach you about the biological, psychological and social factors related to your condition and how these factors can contribute to pain. These invaluable pain management skills will empower your pain relief and give you tools to use for a lifetime.

Treating the Discouraging Side-Effects of Your Pain

Sometimes the most detrimental side-effects of chronic pain are the effects it has on your mood and relationships with loved ones. The Half-Day Program takes a hard look at these side-effects and gives you the tools you need to regain a positive outlook. You will learn biofeedback and relaxation techniques, occupational and physical therapy exercises, and methods to cope with the emotional and psychological effects.

Can you Benefit From the Chronic Pain Management Half-Day Program?

If you have prolonged pain and were unsuccessful in individualized treatment, or if you are experiencing pain without a clear, direct cause, you may benefit from a comprehensive pain management assessment. The Chronic Pain Management Half-Day Program is designed for individuals who struggle with daily activities due to pain but are able to continue lower levels of function at work and in their daily life. Conditions commonly treated include:

  • Arthritis
  • Myofascial pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Neuropathic pain (e.g. diabetes mellitus, shingles)
