RIC Physician Todd Kuiken Named "Chicagoan of the Year"

Todd Kuiken, M.D., PhD, director of the Neural Engineering Center for Bionic Medicine at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) has been named by Chicago Magazine as one of eight, “Chicagoans of the Year,” recognized for making a considerable contribution to the city of Chicago with the Bionic Arm technology that he and his team developed.
Each year since 1994, Chicago Magazine has recognized people of Chicago that "have brightened our city through vision and perseverance." Dr. Kuiken’s discoveries have brought thought-controlled prosthetics to fruition and allowed arm-amputees more natural and precise control of their prosthetics.
