Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Chief Operating Officer Appointed to American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board

Elected to Section for Long-term Care & Rehabilitation

December 25, 2003

CHICAGO - Susan Hulce Cerletty, executive vice president for Operations of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, has been appointed to the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board as a delegate for Long-term Care & Rehabilitation. The term is effective from January 1, 2004-December 31, 2006.

Cerletty joined the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago in 1997 as senior vice president and chief operating officer of the Hospital & Clinics Division. Cerletty was later appointed to the new position of executive vice president for RIC Operations in February 2002. She provides operational leadership throughout RIC’s system of care, including the hospital and clinics, corporate partnerships, and the DayRehab division. RIC has more than 20 sites of care in the Chicago-area and southern Illinois, including affiliations with Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Loyola University Health System, RML Specialty Hospital, Riverside HealthCare, and Southern Illinois Healthcare. A significant amount of growth has occurred during Cerletty’s tenure.

AHA's section for Long-term Care and Rehabilitation promotes and enhances the understanding of health, and related continuing care needs, for persons of all ages, as well as the issues pertinent to healthcare provider organizations. Cerletty’s leadership role with the AHA will focus on the improvement of continuity of care between acute, pre- and post-acute, and long-term services, and support efforts to improve delivery of health-related services to chronically ill, elderly, and disabled persons requiring continuing care in institutions, the community, and the home. Cerletty will also influence policy and regulation in her new role.
