Josh Rittenberg, MD Featured in Orthopedics Today

Joshua Rittenberg, MD, physiatrist at RIC’s Spine and Sports Rehabilitation Center on Clark St., was recently featured in Orthopedics Today, a leading orthopedic trade magazine, for his presentation on back pain at the North American Spine Society 24th Annual Meeting.  His presentation “reviewed the challenges that managing pre- and postoperative spine pain in older patients presents — from diagnosing the real source of pain to balancing medications.”

Rittenberg recommends that active rehabilitation should be the first-line treatment for older patients’ back pain, especially after age 70 years, when spine degeneration, pain thresholds and inflammatory mediators increase.
