Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago Receives $10 Million Gift


The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago has announced a $10 million gift from the Regenstein Foundation toward construction of a new research hospital.

The lead gift in RIC's $350 million capital campaign will underwrite the Center for Bionic Medicine at the $550 million Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, which is scheduled to open in early 2017. When completed, the center the largest prosthetic research enterprise in the world, while the 1.2-million-square-foot AbilityLab will be the first-ever "translational" research hospital in which clinicians, scientists, innovators, and technologists work together in the same space.
