Outside health care businesses look to Region

Health care companies from outside Northwest Indiana increasingly are looking to the Region as an attractive market.

In recent years, medical providers from Chicago and other places outside the state have been moving into Northwest Indiana, in part because of its aging population and favorable regulatory environment.

"We had a lot of patients coming out of that market," said Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, managing partner for Chicago-based Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, which recently opened a clinic in Munster. "We thought we could serve them better and attract more if we were in the market."
