Neighborhood Update: August 2014
As you have seen, construction continues to move forward on RIC’s new Research Hospital, located at 355 East Erie Street. Last month, the parking garage deck concrete pours concluded, bringing the structure up to level eight. In addition, the core was completed to level twelve. We will continue work on the core, and in addition, will begin constructing the steel skeleton of the outside of the building. This phase of construction will include increased material deliveries, steel erection and ongoing concrete pours. In addition, interior build outs continue throughout the lower levels of the structure.
Site operations will include typical construction work hours between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. However, you will notice permitted activity on site outside of these hours, such as the hoist moving workers as they arrive and depart, deliveries, and occasional crane and hoist jumps.
Additionally, with the decrease in daylight hours, you may notice the building lighting. The site is illuminated for safety purposes anytime employees are present, including during loading/unloading operations, arrivals, departures and regular work hours. The majority of lights are shielded and controlled by a timer to minimize neighborhood impacts as much as possible. A portion of the lighting (i.e., stairs, etc.) is required to be on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for life safety in the event of an emergency.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns related to the construction of RIC’s new Research Hospital, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 312-238-7522. We continue to appreciate your partnership is the development of this cutting edge new facility.
